An occupational therapist at a New York City medical clinic is working with clients to identify which occupational practices are likely to be harmful to their health.
The Occupational Clinic is a non-profit that provides treatment to people who work in healthcare settings.
“We are doing a lot of work in the field to identify and treat these types of issues,” said occupational therapist and occupational clinic co-founder Sara Lazzari.
“A lot of people are looking for the most effective and effective ways to deal with this type of issues, and the Occupational Clinics is the one place where that’s really possible.”
The Occupation Clinic focuses on occupational safety and health issues like air quality, air quality monitoring, respiratory health, occupational health care, and occupational therapy.
“The Occupational Health program is a large-scale effort by the Occupation Health Association and the Association of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Medicine to help employers identify and address the health and safety issues that come up in healthcare facilities,” said Lazzarri.
“Our focus is on the workplace, where we provide occupational health and occupational safety training and education for health and social workers and healthcare workers.
It’s a comprehensive program for healthcare professionals, especially nurses, who deal with healthcare workers on a daily basis.”
One of the occupational health issues that is being studied is the effect that the use of air purifiers has on patients.
“There’s a lot that we’re learning from patients,” said lazzari, “so we’re developing strategies to help them manage the symptoms of air pollution.”
Another area that occupational therapists are working on is the use and impact of non-sterile practices like using a disposable toilet.
“This is really a hot area right now,” said medical clinic cofounder and occupational therapist Dr. Julie Riggs.
“I think there are a lot more non-safe methods of cleaning that are being used right now, and it can actually increase the risk of infection.
That’s one of the reasons that we do our research.
We want to see what the science is and how we can improve the practice to help prevent infections.”
One example of nonsterile, non-permanent methods of sanitation is a device called a ‘wash pad’ that can be purchased for about $5.
The wash pad is designed to help disinfect the environment, but can also be used to help people who use the wash pad to disinfect themselves.
“They’re not actually sterilizing the environment,” said Riggs, “but they’re going to help you wash your hands and your clothes.
It can be used for a lot different purposes, including disinfecting your clothes, washing your face and your hair, or just cleaning your clothes.”
The other way that occupational therapy is addressing health issues in healthcare is through occupational health education.
Riggs said that in the past, occupational therapists have been reluctant to speak out on health issues, especially with regard to workplace safety and safety training.
“When you have a lot to say about a particular issue, we’ve kind of felt a lot like we’re not part of that conversation,” she said.
“How do we make it as safe as possible for patients? “
If you are a patient who’s had a serious health issue and you have no idea what to do, we want to talk to you about that,” said Dr. Lazzaria.
“How do we make it as safe as possible for patients?
We want people to have that conversation, and hopefully they can come out better than they were before.”
Lazzaris said that there are also a number of benefits to occupational therapy that are not directly related to occupational health.
“For example, if you have an existing medical condition, there are occupational therapists out there who have been working with that person for a long time, and they can help you get back to a more normal life,” she explained.
“And so, if there is a medical condition or a disease that you have, and you’re not sure what to talk about with a professional, we can also get you in the door and help you find the best course of action.”
In addition to providing health and training services to healthcare workers, occupational therapy also works to educate patients about the risks associated with using certain types of medications and devices.
“You can go to a clinic and go in and they’ll give you a prescription for a new drug,” said physician and occupational therapists Dr. Lisa Mancuso.
“Or they’ll help you understand the side effects of the medication.
They’ll help guide you on what you need to do to take care of your symptoms.”
Mancusa added that occupational therapist training can also help patients in developing better coping mechanisms.
“Some people will use this to deal to some stressor,” she pointed out.
“That’s the kind of coping that I believe is important for people to learn and learn how to do.
